Key screens from the product-led growth (PLG) focused onboarding process.
Goal
NetXD wanted to extend the reach of their Large Action Model (LAM), typically sold to financial institutions, by applying it to a consumer facing app to help automate tedious banking processes. While they had a preliminary chat interface prototype, they wanted to take it to the next level and sought support with a go-to-market (GTM) strategy, monetization strategy, brand positioning, user testing and overall product design. Some of our initial questions were:
- How comfortable are users with allowing AI to be a part of their financial planning?
- How comfortable are users with accomplishing tasks via a chat interface?
- What kind of financial products are users interested in?
- What monetization and design strategy would allow the client to earn money right from launch?

Approach
While marketing tested ads to better understand our user base, we explored two distinct design paths: one focused on more traditional app design, and one with a chat-focused user experience. It was clear that there were strengths and weaknesses to both approaches, so I took the best of each and combined them. At this point, marketing had gained insights that people were more interested in products such as credit cards and lines of credit. I created flexible branding guidelines and then collaborated with another product designer to create the marketing site so that we could capture leads for product launch.

Design & Outcome
The outcome was a comprehensive financial management app that utilized NetXD's LAM to offer a "do-it-for-you" experience controlled via chat. This allows users to accomplish tasks such as sending money, transferring money between accounts, scheduling recurring payments, opening new accounts or monitoring account activity by simply typing a command. In addition to chat, the app includes an Explore screen where users can browse financial products, an Accounts section where user can securely link and manage bank accounts, and a customizable home screen so user's can quickly access the features they use most frequently.
User testing with 10 participants showed that the majority of users were excited by the prospect of using an LAM in a chat-based user experience to manage their finances.
